Drew Christensen loved participating in athletics, from the time he was a little boy playing t-ball through varsity participation in football, wrestling, Olympic weightlifting and lacrosse at Lakeville South High School. During his tenure at the University of Minnesota, he represented the Golden Gophers and competed on the handball team. Drew also ran in Lakeville's Pan-O-Prog 5K, the Twin Cities Marathon, as well as two Toughman Triathlons, for which he purchased the bike pictured. Over and above all of these sports endeavors, he LOVED the game of Johnball! As competitive and talented as he was on whatever athletic playing field, the battle Drew waged against mental illness was too strong a foe. He was no match for Bi-Polar Disorder, with which he was diagnosed in 2014 while in college. After a mighty struggle, he died by suicide on November 8, 2016 in Minneapolis.
Please join our family at the Tour de SAVE Northfield 2020 on Saturday, July 25th in Northfield, MN with Team 324-Drew Christensen Memorial to honor our son, brother and friend as we support raising awareness and education regarding suicide prevention and promotion of mental health.
