SAVE was one of the nation’s first organizations dedicated to the prevention of suicide. Their work is based on the foundation and belief that suicide is preventable and everyone has a role to play in preventing suicide. Through raising public awareness, educating communities, and equipping every person with the right tools, they know they can SAVE lives. SAVE stands for Suicide Awareness Voices of Education and that is exactly what they do.
Why did I choose SAVE?
Running is something I do for my own mental health. Through SAVE and the Grandma's Marathon I will be able to run for other's mental health. I will be running in honor of the people in my life who have lost someone close to them through suicide. I don't expect you to join me on that starting line, or through those 26.2 miles, but I do hope that if you have the financial means that you will consider making a donation on this page to SAVE lives through raising awareness, educating, and giving others hope when they believe all hope may be lost.
*Another great thing about SAVE is that 92% of their budget goes to Program Services while only 8% goes to Administrative costs. THIS WAY WE KNOW THAT OUR MONEY IS GOING TOWARDS HELPING THOSE IN NEED.
I'd LOVE your help!
Please help me reach my initial goal of raising $500 before May so that I may run in June in honor of those we have lost and in hope that we may SAVE many more!
Do you have someone you want me to run in honor of?
If there is someone in your life that you lost to suicide that you would like me to dedicate my run to, please contact me. Whether that be through test, email, or personal message. I would love to honor as many as possible on race day. I am not sure what that will look like just yet, so I am open to ideas!
