👟🍂🏃🏽♀️Holly Montgomery and I = Team Holla) will be doing the 10 Mile run at the Medtronic Twin Cities Marathon to benefit SAVE (Suicide Awareness Voices of Education)!
11 years ago, I completed a half marathon in Las Vegas, alone, by the skin of my teeth with little training. So while this will not be the farthest distance I have ever gone, it will be in Minnesota, after 2 knee surgeries, 1 DVT blood clot, hospitalization, rare blood disorder diagnosis, gastric surgery, in a stronger body, 11 years older 😳 now in my 40s), and alongside my dear friend, and hopefully some people waiting at the finish line. 💗
💲 If you can donate to help us reach our fundraising goal - THANK YOU!! 🙏🏽If you can send some good thoughts & prayers for a safe run, please do!
✨Most importantly, consider challenging yourself to do something that terrifies you, no matter how big or small.
⏳18 months ago, it was terrifying to get on that operating table knowing all the possible complications.
⏳1.5 years ago, it was an immense challenge to walk up steps to a seat in a movie theater.
💔 3 years ago, it was a challenge to get out of bed every morning. #MentalHealthAwareness
💔 5 years ago, 100lbs + overweight, it was a challenge and terrifying to choose to keep both feet in this world. #SuicideAwareness
🌑 5.5 years ago, after being assaulted from someone I knew, I was at rock bottom. #ProjectSemicolon #YourStoryIsNotOver
💗👟🏃🏽♀️And yet here we are today. Still earthside, heart still beating and life still left to be lived! Consider doing something for yourself; remind yourself you are alive and have just this one big beautiful life. This cause does just that. It saves lives.
With gratitude, hope, and grace,
💗Laura & Holly Montgomery
**SAVE was started by a mom who lost her daughter to suicide in 1979 and is one of the nation’s first organizations dedicated to the prevention of suicide. The work of SAVE is based on the foundation and belief that suicide is preventable and everyone has a role to play in preventing suicide. Through raising public awareness, educating communities, and equipping every person with the right tools, we know we can SAVE lives.
